Spot Water Leaks Without Problem!

Roof flashings are an important part to your entire roofing system, and the fact of the matter is, if you don’t have pipe boots or roof flashings correctly installed in the places that need them the most, you may have a leak on your hands. At Flashings Direct, we’ve been providing places to look for roof leaks on your home, here are some more.

Furnace or B-Vent Flashings

You’ll notice that these roof flashings are very similar to those that are around plumbing vents. Sometimes, however, they’ll have metal storm collars. Furnace or B-Vent flashings were designed to fit around the vertical pipe that’s in your roof. If they become loose, the storm collars can cause leaks.

Ice Dam Leaks

Ice dam leaks are very common, and they plague people that are in the snow belt. These types of leaks can happen on any home, in any condition. If there is a blockage of water flow on your roof or in your gutters, water will dam and ice will form, creating an ice dam. When the water dams, it can also get under the flashings, tar paper, shingles, etc. Once the water freezes, you may have a future leak problem on your hands as the ice thaws. When the water freezes, it can cause damages to your roof and structure of your home. To prevent ice dam leaks, install a membrane under the roofing. These membranes won’t be able to stop the ice from forming, but it can stop leaks if they are properly installed.
