Roof Eating Critters!
As we have seen roof leaks can be caused by an assortment of environmental issues. Short of a deep-space meteorite using your house as a landing zone, critters can be a consistent source of damage for your roof. First off lets define just what a “critter” is. For the purpose of this blog, a critter will be defined as a furry animal that eats something that no living creature should be able to digest. Metal, wood, wiring, even concrete! Well that may be an exaggeration but you get the idea. Items on your roof are particularly vulnerable to the scourge of these little pirates. Particularly pipe boots and exposed portions of your roof.
Critters will rip up the shingles and gnaw through the roof in order to get into the nice, insulated attic. The devious critters will eat the siding and tear through the walls to access the attic. Let that sink in for a moment, “they eat the siding”. That could almost send shivers down your spine. All said and done, one single critter can create a lot of damage and it gets even worse once their family moves in!
