Roof Flashing Details You Can't Get Wrong

Believe it or not, everyone is becoming more handy than they may have expected. Although you may not have handyman genes in your system, sometimes completing work on your house is better if you do it yourself, like installing roof flashings and pipe boots. Although you may feel like you’ve got this, there are some pretty big details that you need to get right. So, here are 4 of the biggest roof flashing details that you need to make sure you get right, so that water doesn’t ruin your well-built structure.

  • Making sure that you get the correct width for your valley flashing is highly important. If you dont, you could be left with leaks. We recommend that you use 3’ of flashing on the valley to be sure that your roof stays strong and great at repelling water.
  • Don’t be cheap on vertical sidewall flashings. In fact, you need to make sure that the minimum 4 inches of sidewall is installed correctly. Unfortunately kickout flashing that has silicone and caulk isn’t something that will cut it! If you want your roof and structure to last, install vertical sidewall flashing correctly.

We hope that the first two roof flashing details have caught your interest thus far.
