Where To Look For Roof Leaks On Your Home
Having a roof over you and your family’s head is what the American dream entails. But with that, you want to make sure that the roof that is installed is one that will last for years to come. With time, will come wear and tear, and that only means that you should have an idea of where roof leaks tend to occur. In our previous post, we gave you some locations on your roof to look for in case of a leak. Here are more places that leaks may happen on your roof.
Chimneys
If your home has a chimney, it may be time to inspect it. These little devils are the source for many leaks, mainly because they contain four different types of flashing and all must be installed correctly without any mistakes to stay leak free, not to mention the brick mortar joint must also be installed correctly. Look in the corners of your chimney and take a look at the roof flashing there. If they have holes in them or are broken, they may need a repair or replacement.
Plumbing Vent Flashing
With the older vents, you don’t really need to worry about a whole lot, but the newer vent flashing are a main concern. Many new pipe boots and flashings incorporate a rubber seal with an aluminum flashing, and rubber has been known to fail within 15 years or so. When this happens, you’ll have exposed roof and leak.
